Lebanon's prestigious cultural award show, the Murex d'Or, postponed Sunday its annual ceremony in the lights of Akkar's fuel tank explosion.
On Sunday, an oil tanker exploded in northern Lebanon and killed over 27 people and injured 79 others, according to Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health and Lebanese Red Cross.
The disaster occurred as the country struggled with widespread fuel, electricity shortages, and a spiraling economic crisis.
The award’s founders Zahi and Fadi Helou announced the news on social media, which was scheduled to take place in Beirut’s Casino du Liban on Wednesday.
No new dates have been announced.

The postponement comes after a number of celebrities snubbing the Murex D'or due to Lebanon’s current problems.
On Saturday, pop star and Best Lebanese Artist nominee Nawal El Zoghbi declared on Twitter that she will not attend the ceremony nor would she accept the award this year due to the difficult situation the country is going through.
Syrian actor Kosai Khauli, shortlisted for the Best Arab Actor award, also tweeted he will not make it.
