The "Welcome Arab Theatre Festival" program officially launched yesterday evening, Sunday. Organized by the National Center for Theatre, Music, and Folk Arts in collaboration with the Arab Theatre Institute, the event is held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fuad Hanno, and the supervision of Director Hisham Atwa, Head of the Theatre Sector.

Opening with Moroccan Excellence: "Solo"

The program commenced with a filmed screening of the play "Solo," based on the novel The Night of Decree (La Nuit du Destin) by acclaimed Moroccan author Tahar Ben Jelloun. Adapted and directed by Mohamed El Hor and produced by the Akoun Theatre Company (Kingdom of Morocco), the play was the winner of the Arab Theatre Festival Award in 2018, recognized for its deep dramatic vision and innovative directorial style.

The session, moderated by Dr. Mohamed Amin Abdel Samad, featured an analytical reading by playwright and director Ghannam Ghannam, who praised the production's artistic aesthetics and its merit for the prestigious award. This was followed by a virtual discussion via Zoom with director Mohamed El Hor, who explored the creative journey behind "Solo" and the qualitative contributions of the Akoun Theatre to the contemporary Arab scene.

Tonight: "The Collar and the Bracelet"

The program continues tonight, Monday, at 8:00 PM, with a screening of the play "The Collar and the Bracelet." Based on the novel by Yahya Taher Abdullah, written by Sameh Mehran, and directed by Nasser Abdel Moneim, this Masrah Al-Talia (Avant-garde Theatre) production won the Arab Theatre Festival Award in 2019.

The screening will take place at the Artistic Creativity Center Cinema (Opera Square), affiliated with the Cultural Development Fund, in the presence of the director and several members of the creative team.
