Morena Baccarin, coming off her role in Deadpool & Wolverine, has joined Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa in "The Wrecking Crew", an action comedy from Amazon MGM Studios.
Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root, and Claes Bang are already on the call sheet for the feature, which will have Ángel Manuel Soto in the director’s chair when cameras roll in October in New Zealand.
"Wrecking Crew" has a script from Jonathan Tropper, the creator of the TV series Warrior. He penned the script and closed his deal before the writers' strike began in June. Jeffrey Fierson, who worked with Momoa on the TV series Frontier, is producing the movie.
The movie is described as a buddy comedy and follows two half-brothers — one a loose-cannon cop (Momoa) and the other a disciplined Navy SEAL (Bautista). After 20-odd years of bad blood, they must work together to unravel the conspiracy behind their father’s murder in Hawaii.
Producing are 6th & Idaho’s Lynn Harris and Matt Reeves, as well as Bautista, Momoa, and Jeffrey Fierson.
Baccarin may be best known for playing Vanessa, the love of Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) in the Deadpool movies. The latest entry has earned over $1.2 billion at the box office.
She was nominated for Emmy and SAG awards for her work on Showtime’s acclaimed spy series "Homeland" and will soon lead CBS’ new series "Sheriff Country", a spinoff about her recurring Fire Country character.
