Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab has addressed the likelihood of the Fist of Khonshu's show getting a second season on Disney+.

During an interview with ArabicMarvel, Diab was asked if Moon Knight having six episodes was his choice or something Marvel Studios made him do.

"Marvel had determined [the number of episodes] from the first day," Diab noted. "Marvel's series projects are all six episodes except for special projects like WandaVision. The usual format is six episodes."

"Loki is the only series they said will be in two parts from the first day. Marvel's way is not the usual way where if the project succeeds, I say let's renew it for a second season. It's their plan, successful or not, they have a plan, he concluded.

This isn't the only time Diab has talked about a possible second season of Moon Knight, as he revealed he has plans for Marc Spector's alter Jake Lockley in 2022, saying at the time, "I want to see [Jake Lockley's] world. Everyone is so intrigued about him and [I want to] see what happens in between those blinks and who he is and what does he love and who does he love. It's very interesting for me."

Later that year, leading man Oscar Isaac seemingly confirmed he was in talks with Marvel about Season 2, remarking, "There have been some specific conversations [about Moon Knight Season 2]. They were pleasant. The spilling of the details is that there's no details. We don't know [if there will be a second season], but we're talking about it."

Isaac would later clarify that he didn't know if Season 2 would become a reality, though he did note that he hopes Marvel greenlights it.

Moon Knight Is Expected to Return to the MCU

That said, Marvel Studios President and CCO Kevin Feige revealed Moon Knight will return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stating in February, "The fun thing about streaming is [the shows] are there forever, and people can keep re-exploring them. Moon Knight, same thing. I think there's a future for that character as we move forward."

As of now, it's not yet known when or where in the MCU the fan-favorite Marvel Comics antihero will pop up, though "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" writer Jeff Loveness supposedly teased that Moon Knight and Daredevil would be in the upcoming film. However, this hasn't officially been confirmed by either Disney or Marvel.
