Netflix has finally unveiled the release date for the “La Casa de Papel” (Money Heist) spinoff series, “Berlin”.

Earlier this year, the giant streamer revealed that the prequel series would be released sometime in December. Now, Netflix has finally revealed it will premiere on December 29.

“Money Heist” was created by Alex Pina and tells the story of the heists through the perspective of one of the robbers, Tokyo, played by Ursula Corbero.

It also starred Álvaro Morte, Itziar Ituño, Miguel Herrán, Jaime Lorente, Esther Acebo, Enrique Arce, Rodrigo de la Serna, Darko Peric, Najwa Nimri, Hovik Keuchkerian, Luka Peros, Belén Cuesta, Fernando Cayo, Fernando Soto, Jose Manuel Poga and Mario de la Rosa.

Pina, who has an overall deal with Netflix, exec produces the series, which was originally commissioned by Spain’s Antena 3, alongside Sonia Martínez, Jesús Colmenar, Esther Martínez Lobato, and Nacho Manubens.

The prequel centers around the popular character also known as Andrés de Fonollosa (played by Pedro Alonso), the second-in-command of the Royal Mint of Spain heist and also planned the Bank of Spain heist, which he shared with The Professor and Palermo.

"Berlin" was created by Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina. The series is scripted by David Oliva, David Barrocal, Esther Martinez Lobato, and Álex Pina.

In addition to Pedro Alonso, the cast also includes Michelle Jenner starring as Keila, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña taking on the role of Roi, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.

The spinoff offers an exploration of Berlin's backstory to a time when he was an enthusiastic and carefree thief, in stark contrast to his role as the morally complex second-in-command in the original series.
