Netflix's most popular non-English language original series “La Casa de Papel” (Money Heist), is coming to an end but the heist universe is not done yet.
The streaming is giant expanding the heist universe and has ordered a spinoff of the hit series, centered around beloved character Berlin, otherwise known as Andrés de Fonollosa, played by Pedro Alonso.
The Berlin character is the second-in-command of the Royal Mint of Spain heist and also planned the Bank of Spain heist, which he shared with The Professor and Palermo.
The digital platform didn't reveal many details of the spinoff slated to premiere in 2023.
The news comes as Money Heist is ending with its last five episodes dropping on December 3.
The final season of the hit series is pided into two parts. The first volume premiered on September 3, while the second is set to debut on December 3, with each part consisting of five episodes.
The end of “Vol .1” saw the death of a beloved character, Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), after a heavily charged standoff with the police.
“Money Heist” is created by Álex Pina and traces two long-prepared heists led by the Professor (Morte), one on the Royal Mint of Spain, and one on the Bank of Spain.
Season five features an astonishing cast returning for the series including Úrsula Coberó, Álvaro Morte, Itziar Ituño, Pedro Alonso, Miguel Herrán, Jaime Lorente, Esther Acebo, Enrique Arce, Darko Peric, Hovik Keuchkerian, Luka Peros, Belén Cuesta, Fernando Cayo, Rodrigo de la Serna, Najwa Nimri, and José Manuel Poga.
Pina, who has an overall deal with Netflix, exec produces the series, which was originally commissioned by Spain’s Antena 3, along with Sonia Martínez, Jesús Colmenar, Esther Martínez Lobato and Nacho Manubens.
