Renowned Egyptian actor and director Mohamed Sobhy's 2002 historical TV series "Faris Bila Gawad" is finally getting a sequel 22 years after it premiered.
The acclaimed actor shared the news on Facebook and noted that is being developed as a play titled, "Faris Yakashf el Mastour", staged at his Sonbol theater starting on Thursday, September 19. It will be staged weekly on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The play, which stars Mirna Waleed and more than 22 actors, is a comedy and tragedy that depicts differences between generations and the descendants of Hafez Najib during the British occupation.
The audience will learn about their lives, their problems, and the differences between generations, and whether history changes and is classified in a new classification.
Born on March 3, 1948, Sobhy is an Egyptian film, television and stage actor and director, known for several Egyptian movies. He graduated from the Institute of Drama in 1970 and continued to teach until 1984.
In the early 1980s, he founded the troupe Studio 80 with his friend and classmate playwriter Lenin Al-Ramli and collaborated on several popular plays including "Takharif", "Al Hamagi", and "Weghat Nazar".
Sobhy also starred in a number of hit TV shows such as "Rehlet Al-Milyoun", "Yawmiat Wanis", and "Faris Bila Gawad". He presented films "Al-Karnak", "Al-Ameel Raqam 13", and "Hona el qahera", until the early 1990s and stopped after that to focus on working in theater and television.
