Yasser Mohab, the president of the Cairo Francophone Film Festival, has announced the appointment of renowned Egyptian actor Mohamed Sobhi as the head of the jury for the festival’s Long Feature Film Competition.
The fourth edition of the festival will take place from November 28 to December 2 at Cairo’s prestigious Opera House.

Mohab stated that Sobhi’s selection as head of the jury reflects his outstanding artistic and creative achievements, as well as his distinguished career in Arab cinema and theatre.
Sobhi, one of the most prominent stars in the Arab world, has contributed to numerous important and entertaining films and television works, in addition to his impressive theatrical productions.
His commitment to elevating the value of art and supporting fellow artists aligns perfectly with the festival's mission.
The festival aims to enhance the profile of Egyptian cinema, foster cultural exchange, and support the country's soft power, contributing to the growth of the Egyptian film and cultural industries.
It also seeks to draw global attention to Egypt’s pivotal role within the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and its ongoing cultural connections.
The festival will feature screenings at various venues in Cairo Opera House, including the Small Theatre, Cinema Hanager, Cinema Al-Hadara, and the Creative Arts Centre, providing ample opportunities for the public to enjoy the films.
The Cairo Francophone Film Festival celebrates the rich diversity of Francophone culture by showcasing films from member countries of the OIF, which currently has 88 member states and governments.
This year’s edition will welcome a distinguished group of artists, diplomats, and Francophone experts, and is set to run for five days, offering a curated selection of the most recent and noteworthy films from the Francophone world. Through its various programs, the festival also aims to strengthen the creative bonds between Egypt and other Francophone countries.
Additionally, the festival features a unique "Future Cinema" program, offering new experiences that are set to captivate audiences and participants alike.
The festival will also host discussions, workshops, and professional sessions related to cinema, to enrich Egypt’s cinematic and cultural landscape.
