“The King” Mohamed Mounir has been hospitalized for the second time after suffering a health scare.
A source close to the acclaimed singer said in press remarks that his health has deteriorated again, which required his transfer to the hospital, where he is currently hospitalized in a hospital in the Sheikh Zayed area under intensive medical care from the treating team.
The insider added that Mounir's health had deteriorated several days ago but refused to go to the hospital for treatment, desiring to remain at home among his family members, however, his need for professional help led to his transfer to the hospital immediately via an ambulance.
"The singer's condition required him to go to the hospital for medical examinations and undergo intensive treatments under the supervision of the medical team, which is what made his family members insist on his transfer," the source said.
The insider added that the iconic singer's health condition saw improvement after 24 hours, which made him ask the doctors to allow his discharge and complete his treatment at home despite the objection of his family, who affirmed that he would not adhere to medical instructions and would go to the studio to record new songs, which would cause him another health setback.
The source also revealed that Mounir's health condition requires regular, accurate monitoring as he suffers from cirrhosis disease in a large part of the liver.
Cirrhosis, also known as fibrosis, is the permanent scarring that damages the liver, interferes with its functioning, and can lead to liver failure.
The condition made Mounir appear overweight in the past period and forced him to take some medications that caused weight gain.
The acclaimed singer is slated to travel to Germany in the coming period for medical care, during which he will visit his primary care doctor along with following up with the Egyptian medical team.
