Egyptian actor Mohamed Marzaban has been hospitalised in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU) following a severe motorcycle accident on the Cairo-Ismailia highway.
Emergency medical services transported Marzaban to the Abu Khalifa Emergency and Microsurgery Hospital in Ismailia.
According to medical reports, the actor is currently in a complete coma, unresponsive to external stimuli, and placed on a ventilator.
Initial diagnostic assessments indicate extensive trauma, including suspected fractures to the spine and cervical vertebrae, as well as hemorrhaging from the mouth and nose. Comprehensive scans have further confirmed internal bleeding in his brain, chest, and abdomen, alongside widespread severe contusions across his body.
Following the accident, Marzaban’s wife contacted the Actors’ Syndicate to request an emergency transfer to a specialized facility in Cairo.
Dr. Ashraf Zaki, head of the Actors' Syndicate, immediately initiated coordination efforts to secure advanced medical care and facilitate the relocation, physicians at the Hospital, however, have blocked the transfer, citing critical condition does not allow him to be moved, due to the severity of his injuries, which require him to continue receiving medical care at the hospital.
Medical officials emphasized that any movement at this stage poses a severe risk to his life. Authorities stated that a marked improvement in consciousness levels and the stabilization of his vital signs are strict prerequisites before a transfer can be safely authorized.
Medical teams noted that the upcoming hours are critical in determining subsequent surgical or therapeutic interventions.
The news of the crash has prompted a widespread wave of solidarity and support from colleagues and fans across the Arab world.
On the legal front, the Ismailia Security Directorate—in coordination with the Abu Suweir Police Station and the Roads Security Department—announced the apprehension of the driver and the seizure of the vehicle involved in the crash.
The arrest followed a forensic review of the vehicle's route and surveillance footage from roads leading to the scene. Local authorities have processed the necessary legal reports and referred the case to the public prosecution for formal investigation.
