Egyptian actor Mohamed Marzaban passed away on Wednesday due to severe injuries he suffered in a motor vehicle crash the week prior. He was 64.
The accident occurred last Saturday on the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road. Marzaban was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by a speeding vehicle.
The driver initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by security forces after being identified through surveillance footage.
Following the collision, Marzaban was rushed to the Abu Khalifa Emergency and Microsurgery Hospital in Ismailia, where he fell in a complete coma, unresponsive to external stimuli, and placed on a ventilator.
Clinical reports revealed extensive trauma, including a severe brain hemorrhage, a fractured skull base, internal abdominal and chest bleeding, and multiple rib fractures.
Upon his admission, a specialized medical team performed an urgent, five-to-six-hour surgery to control the hemorrhaging.
Prior to his passing, the actor's family requested a medical transfer to a specialized facility in Cairo. However, his condition remained too unstable to permit transport.
Marzaban remained on life support under round-the-clock intensive care until his condition deteriorated sharply, leading to his passing on Wednesday morning.
Details regarding the funeral and solace ceremony has not yet been announced.
Marzaban was a staple of Egyptian television and cinema since the early 1990s, building a prolific three-decade career frequently characterized by his portrayals of aristocratic figures and businessmen.
His extensive cinematic portfolio includes prominent roles in films such as "Kashf El Mastour," "Khaleg Neama," and "El Bilyatshu".
On television, he starred in hit TV series "Ayna Qalbi," "Did El Tayyar," and "Esm Mo'aqat".
Marzaban made his final on-screen appearance in the TV series "Ward Ala Fol Wa Yasmine."
