Egyptian actor Mohamed Mamdouh has shared an update on the long-awaited sequel to his 2017 smash hit, "Bank El Haz."
The journey to the sequel hitting the theaters dates back to June 2021.
Despite the long journey, Mamdouh revealed that the idea of presenting a second part of the movie is still on the table.
"I don't know when it will be made, but it is still happening. We were supposed to take a step soon, but there was a change in the script," he said. "I would like to make it, I wish to do so."
"Bank El Haz" also stars Akram Hosny, Mohamed Tharwat, Hossam Dagher, Lobna Mahmoud, Bayoumi Fouad, Sami Maghawry, Khaled Kamal, Samia El Trabelsi, and more.
Ahmed El Gendy helmed the original film from a script by Mohamed Ezz El Din and Mostafa Sakr.
The film follows longtime time friends and coworkers Saleh (Mamdouh) and Amr (Akram Hosny), and Zaro (Mohamed Tharwat) their partner in the PlayStation Store as they steal EGP15 million from the bank where he used to work.
The film's synopsis reads,"Fueled by anger after getting fired from his bank job, a lazy banker Saleh joins forces with his co-worker Amr and their weird friend Zaro by turning to robbery in order to fulfill their dreams. But, when they turn their master scheme to rob the bank into action, things take an unexpected turn. Little did they know that a plan is only as clever as the brains behind it."
Mamdouh can be seen in the star-studded film "My Wife's Ex" (Merati's Ex).
The cast also stars Hesham Maged, Amina Khalil, Moustafa Ghareeb, and more.
Moataz El Tony directs the project from a script by Karim Samy and Ahmed Abdel Wahab.
Mamdouh and Khalil recently reunited on the crime romance film “Shaqo".
The cast also includes Amr Youssef, Yousra, Dina El Sherbiny, Abbas Abul-Hassan, Mohamed Gomaa, Walid Fawaz, and more.
