Mohamed Emam to Play Ibrahim Al-Rifai in New Film

Actor, Mohamed Emam is set to play Egyptian army legend Ibrahim Al-Rifai in a new film.

"A project came out of nowhere .. About a surprise hero, waiting for me, God willing, in a film about Egyptian army legend Ibrahim Al-Rifai" Emam tweeted on Twitter on Thursday.

Brigadier General Ibrahim al-Rifai was the Commander of the 39th Special Operations Force in the October 1973 war.

He carried out 72 suicide operations behind enemy lines between 1967 and 1973 before martyring in the October war.

This film will not be the only artistic work revolving around the heroics of the Egyptian army, as actor, Amir Karara is set to play the biography of martyr Colonel Ahmed el-Mansy.

Karara will play el-Mansy in TV series “El Ekhtebar- Ahmed el-Mansy” (The Choice- Ahmed el-Mansy) which will be produced by Synergy Production Company.

The TV series will be written by Baher Dowidar, and directed by Peter Mimi.

It is scheduled for the stars to begin filming the TV series next month, which will be premiered in Ramadan 2020.

On the other hand, the 35-year-old actor is set to resume on Saturday shooting the final scenes of his new film "Lis Bagdad” (The Thief of Baghdad).

Lis Bagdad co-starring Mohamed Emam, Yasmin Raeis, Salah Abdallah, Fathy Abdel Wahab, Amina Khalil, Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, Ahmed Rizk, and others.

The film is written by Tamer Ibrahim, and directed by Ahmed Khaled Mousa.

Film "Lis Bagdad” is yet to receive a release date, which will be produced by Synergy films.

Emam, born on December 16, 1984, comes from an artistic family as his father is ‘El Zaeem’ actor Adel Emam, and the younger brother of director Rami Emam.

Mohamed went to Jesuit school before he entered The American University in Cairo. He studied theater and acted in many roles in the university including "Atawa in El Maghmati" play directed by Mahmoud El Lozy.

He first began his career in the arts as a child when he co-starred in his father Adel Emam film “Hanafi El Abha” (The Magnificent Hanafi) in 1990.

Emam played his first role out of the university when he took part in the Egyptian series "Kanaria and Shorkah".

In 2006, Egyptian director Marwan Hammed choose him to play the role of Taha in film "The Yacoubian Building", based on the novel of the same name.

Film "Hassan and Marcus" was his next major work, co-starred Adel Emam, Omar Sharif, Lebleba, and Hanna El Shorbagy, and others.

It revolved around the tension between Muslims and Christians.

His first film as the main protagonist was “Al Beeh Romansy” (The Romantic Bey) in 2009.

He is known for his televised roles in "Hogan", "Lam'yy El Ott","Saheb El Saa'da","Firqat Naji Atallah","Khatout Hamra'", "Bilshama’a El Ahmar", "Firqet Naggy A't Allah", and "Khatut Hamra".

He is also known for his roles in films "Captain Masr" , "Lelyt Hana w Sorour","Al-Bayh Romancy", "Hasan wa Marqas", and "Emaret Yacoubian".
