Tourism Min., Italian Amb. in Cairo Discuss Dual Cooperation Boost

Today, Dr. Khaled El-Anani, Minister of Tourism & Antiquities, received, in his office at the ministry’s headquarters in Zamalek, the Italian ambassador in Cairo, Michele Quaroni, and the delegation accompanying him, who recently assumed his duties as ambassador to his country in Cairo.

The minister and ambassador discussed means of enhancing cooperation between the two countries at the tourism and archaeological fields.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Plenipotentiary Dalia Abdel Fattah, General Supervisor of the General Department of International Relations and Agreements at the Ministry.

The minister began the meeting by welcoming the ambassador and congratulating him on assuming the duties of his new position, wishing him success and an enjoyable stay in Egypt.

He stressed the depth of relations between the two countries and the cooperation they are witnessing in many fields, including tourism and antiquities.

On his part, the Italian ambassador expressed his happiness at this meeting and his keenness that his meeting with Dr. Khaled El-Anani is his first official meeting in Egypt since he assumed his duties as ambassador to his country in Cairo.

He praised the efforts made by the Egyptian state to support tourism and push the tourism movement to the Egyptian tourist destination in addition to create an integrated tourism product that includes a number of different tourist patterns and products such as beach tourism and a cultural tourism product.

The persified tourism product enables tourists to enjoy the various tourist and archaeological sites that characterize the Egyptian tourist destination.

The Italian Ambassador added that the cultural tourism product will be included in the tourism programs of Italian tourism operators so that the Italian tourist can learn about the various tourist products of the Egyptian tourist destination and enjoy the tourism components that characterize it, in addition to visiting archaeological sites and getting to know the ancient Egyptian civilization.

The meeting also touched on discussing mechanisms of cooperation between Egypt and Italy , including the exchange of experiences in the field of archaeological work and restoration of antiquities, and training staffs in the tourism and archaeological sector.

It also included the organization of workshops in the field of tourism work to attract more tourist traffic to Egypt from the Italian market and others in the field of tourism along with exchanging experiences in restoration and training of staffs during the next few years.
