Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism & Antiquities, met with a group of Taba investors during his visit to the city to attend the ceremony organized by the South Sinai Governorate yesterday evening to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Taba's return to the Egypt.
The ceremony was attended also by Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister for Tourism Affairs and , Ahmed Al-Wasif, President Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers.
The minister is keen to listen to complaints facing these investors and their opinions and proposals to push the tourism development in the city.
He also discussed mechanisms to revitalize the internal tourism movement, and to return Taba to what it was years ago.
The minister began the meeting by stressing that the state spares no effort to advance the tourism sector, as it is one of the most important tributaries of the national economy.
He pointed out that the political leadership and the government are removing all possible obstacles to push work in the tourism sector and provide the necessary support to relieve this important sector, especially and that the private sector is the partner of success and the real locomotive for the advancement of this vital sector.
The minister also referred to the initiatives, decisions, procedures, exemptions, incentives and support granted by the state to support the tourism sector and its workers since the beginning of the emerging coronavirus pandemic crisis until now.
Al-Anani stressed that Taba is a city that combines many different types of tourism, as it is a city with a distinct tourist site because of its picturesque beaches, warm nature and luxurious hotels, and it also has Pharaoh's Island, which contains the ancient Citadel of Saladin.
During the meeting, investors praised the new roads that had been built to smooth and facilitate access to the city, and the possibility of increasing services in the area and operating a number of flights to Taba Airport was discussed.
The investors also appreciated the minister's constant eagerness to meet with them in the city of Taba to listen to them and their views.
During the meeting, some of the problems facing the tourism sector in Taba were discussed, with proposals to solve them, to return Taba as it was years ago, in addition to discussing proposals to revitalize domestic tourism to Taba.
It is worth noting that Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism &Antiquities, has been keen, since he assumed the portfolio of the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities in December 2019, to hold expanded meetings with many tourism investors in the various tourist governorates, including the Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan and Sohag, to listen to their demands and proposals to support and increase the movement of incoming tourism to this Governorates, and discuss the challenges facing the tourism industry.
