Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, officially inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion today at the 60th edition of ITB Berlin 2026. The world’s leading travel trade show is held in the German capital from March 3 to 5, with annual participation from the Ministry, represented by the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA). The inauguration took place in the presence of Dr. Mohamed El-Badri, Egypt’s Ambassador to Berlin.

Strengthening Global Partnerships

Minister Sherif Fathy emphasized the strategic importance of ITB Berlin, describing it as the world’s premier platform for tourism professionals and a vital hub for exchanging trends and insights regarding the future of the industry.

The Minister noted that this participation serves as a key opportunity to hold high-level professional meetings with major tour operators and airlines in the German market. These discussions aim to explore avenues for cooperation to further boost inbound tourism from Germany to Egypt, alongside official meetings to enhance bilateral tourism ties.

Germany: A Key Source Market

Highlighting the significance of the German market, the Minister revealed that it remains one of Egypt’s top priority source markets. He noted a remarkable 11.4% growth in 2025 compared to 2024, positioning Germany as the second-largest source of inbound tourism to Egypt among the top ten markets.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Minister toured the Egyptian pavilion and met with exhibitors. Addressing current trends, he clarified that there have been no significant booking cancellations, barring very limited instances, reaffirming that Egypt remains a safe and stable destination for global travelers.

During his tour, the Minister visited various displays, including those for Red Sea hotel resorts, the Al Ahly SC booth, and a special exhibit for the Giza Zoo, where he was briefed on the latest developments ahead of its grand reopening in a modernized format.
