NEW ADMINISTRATIVE CAPITAL – Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, chaired the Board of Directors meeting of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) today at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The Minister opened the session by extending his New Year greetings to the board members, expressing his hopes for a year filled with prosperity and success for Egypt and its people.

Performance and Cultural Impact

Dr. Al-Tayeb Abbas, CEO of the NMEC, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the museum’s performance during the recent period. The report highlighted a diverse range of activities, including:

 Cultural and Archaeological Events: Hosted to strengthen the museum’s role as a cultural hub.

 Capacity Building: Specialized training courses and workshops aimed at developing the skills of museum staff.

Community Engagement: Initiatives designed to raise awareness and foster communication with various segments of society.

Record Growth in Visitor Numbers

The meeting reviewed key performance indicators for 2025, with a focus on the final quarter (October–December). Data revealed significant growth in visitor traffic compared to the previous year. Notably, foreign visitor numbers increased by 13% relative to 2024.

The board also examined the proposed budget for the 2026/2027 fiscal year. Financial comparisons were presented for the first half of the current fiscal year (July 1 – December 31, 2025) against the same period in 2024, showing steady upward trends in revenue.

Data-Driven Strategy

Minister Sherif Fathy emphasized the importance of utilizing these Key Figures to refine the museum’s marketing strategies. He stressed the need for rigorous data analysis to measure actual performance against strategic targets, ensuring the museum continues to meet its developmental goals.

Library Acquisitions and Approvals

The board concluded the meeting by:

 Ratifying the minutes of the previous board meeting.

Approving several donations to the museum, including specialized books for the NMEC library.

 Acknowledging contributions from various entities, including the Supreme Council of Antiquities, which aim to enrich the library’s scientific and research resources in the fields of civilization, archaeology, and heritage.
