H.E. Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, chaired the Board of Directors meeting of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, held at the museum’s premises in Remaya Square, Giza.
The session opened with the ratification of the minutes of the previous meeting. The board then approved the revised financial statements and the amended final accounts of the Authority for the fiscal year 2024/2025, in the presence of representatives from the Central Auditing Organization and members of the museum’s financial and administrative departments.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the Central Auditing Organization for their efforts and instructed the specialists at the Museum Authority, along with the Governance and Internal Audit Committee—previously formed by a board decision—to coordinate in implementing the necessary executive measures in this regard.
The meeting also approved a proposal to lower the maximum age for students eligible for discounted entry tickets to 24 years, effective January 1, 2026. Updates were also presented on the progress of the museum project, preparations for the grand opening ceremony, and specialized services at the Conservation Center.
In addition, the board approved the revised organizational structure of the Museum Authority, in line with the directives of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration. It also endorsed a cooperation protocol between the Museum Authority and the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency to promote joint efforts in environmental preservation.
It is noteworthy that preparations are in full swing for the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled for November 1. In light of these arrangements, the museum will temporarily close from October 15 until the morning of November 4, when it reopens to the public. Furthermore, the Tutankhamun Gallery at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir will close on October 20 to allow for the transfer of the final artifacts of the Golden King to the Grand Egyptian Museum, where his complete collection will be displayed together for the first time in a dedicated gallery.
