US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the Iranian leader Ali Khamenei slammed each other on Twitter, on Saturday evening, shortly before Joe Biden announces his victory in the presidential elections.

Pompeo reacted to a statement of Khamenei, in which he called the elections held in the United States “a spectacle.”

“The situation in the US & what they themselves say about their elections is a spectacle! This is an example of the ugly face of liberal democracy in the US,” Khamenei stated on Twitter. “Regardless of the outcome, one thing is absolutely clear, the definite political, civil, & moral decline of the US regime.”

In return, the US Secretary accused Khamenei of  stealing hundreds of millions of dollars from his people.

“You’ve personally stolen hundreds of millions of dollars from your people. Your elections are a joke, with hundreds of candidates disqualified from even running,” the US Secretary wrote on Twitter.

“Today, your people starve because you spend billions on proxy wars to protect your kleptocracy,” he added.

He also confirmed in another tweet that, ““America is the greatest nation in the entire history of mankind,” and is also waiting for “the Iranian people to get what they want.”
