Soccer great Lionel Messi is adding another blockbuster cameo to his résumé, this time alongside one of Marvel's biggest superheroes, Spider-Man.
Sony Pictures released a new promotional spot for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," featuring the Argentine captain, as Argentina prepares for the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The clip opens inside a neighborhood coffee shop, where Messi unexpectedly crosses paths with Tom Holland's Peter Parker.
Using a tracking app on his phone, Messi reveals he's joined the search for Spider-Man, only for Parker to quietly slip away moments later, and swings into action as Spider-Man seconds later.
The clip then shifts into full superhero mode as Messi and the web-slinger head off together, with the soccer icon helping kick off a fast-paced sequence through the city skyline.
While the clip is brief, it marks a timely high-profile collaboration between one of the world's biggest athletes and one of Hollywood's most recognizable franchises.
The promotional spot comes at a fitting time for Messi, whose focus now turns back to the World Cup.
The reigning champions have advanced to the knockout rounds behind another dominant tournament from their captain, who continues to add to his legendary international résumé.
Messi has once again been among the tournament's standout performers, helping Argentina enter the Round of 16 as one of the favorites to defend its World Cup crown.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day," starring Holland, is the next installment in Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man franchise.
The film picks up in the wake of the events of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," with Peter Parker navigating life after Doctor Strange's spell erased the world's memory of his identity.
As he embraces a fresh start, Parker faces new threats while balancing the responsibilities of being in New York City's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day," also starring Zendaya and Sadie Sink, is in theaters July 31. Check out the teaser trailer below.
