The Egyptian Public Prosecution ordered to transfer of actress Menna Shalaby to a criminal trial as she was charged with taking drugs.

The governmental body issued a statement on Wednesday, indicating that they have evidence from five witnesses that 12 bags of marijuana, which were seized at the Cairo International Airport (CAI) last month, belonged to Shalaby.

Meanwhile, the decision was determined based on the police investigations and the recordings of the monitoring machines at the airport, in addition to the results of the chemical laboratory’s examination of the seizures.

On 25 November, Egyptian authorities arrested Shalaby at the CAI after security services seized 12 bags of marijuana in her possessions. She was returning from New York on Friday around 12:00 p.m. She was being searched at the Cairo airport customs when they found the stuffed marijuana.

Shalaby had a breakdown in front of the investigation, saying: "I do not know about these drugs, it is not mine."

Later on, the actress was released on bail of 50,000.
