Egyptian actress Menna Shalaby and producer Ahmed El Ganainy signed the aqd qiran two weeks ago in a low-key ceremony limited to their family and friends.
Aqd qiran is an Islamic marriage contract that is considered an integral part of an Islamic marriage and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom and bride or other parties involved in marriage proceedings under Shariah.
Shalaby confirmed her marriage to El Ganainy after a photo of their marriage certificate went viral on social media in the past few hours.
She explained that she chose not to go public with the news out of her privacy, especially in light of the ongoing health crisis of her mother, Zizi Mustafa.
Shalaby affirmed her constant commitment to ensuring that her presence on social media is limited to her artistic work, not her personal life.
She added that she preferred to announce the news at a time that suited her and in a way that she preferred, and that she believes that what concerns her on a personal level should not be made public except within the narrowest limits.
Regarding the spread of the marriage certificate, Shalaby shared that she felt surprised and upset after the photo was circulated on social media, especially since she did not expect any details from her private life to be made public, and that she always strives to avoid such things, because she believes that her personal life is not subject to public discussion or trending.
A source said the couple tied the knot after a strong friendship had developed between them over the past few months especially after she appeared as a guest on one of the talk shows he produces.
Close sources added the couple intended to make their debut as a married couple at the opening of the 8th El Gouna Film Festival but decided at the last minute to postpone the appearance out of respect for personal family circumstances.
The couple is set to celebrate their marriage in a private wedding ceremony in the coming period.
