Melissa Barrera is getting back to the horror game.

The “Scream” and “Scream VI” star is to take the lead in the upcoming feature “Inhabit".

The film hails from writer/director Adam Alleca (“Standoff,” “The Last House on the Left,” “Delirium”).

The feature is described as blending “psychological horror with relentless supernatural dread” and offering a “chilling exploration of trauma, motherhood, and the responsibility of unfathomable power.”

Logical Pictures Group are financing the project and launching international sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market and is jointly repping the U.S. rights with Range Select.

“Inhabit” follows a young woman who, following a traumatic life-changing event, moves into a rundown apartment complex in search of a fresh start.

When she’s terrorized by bizarre occurrences — unhinged neighbors, uncanny stalkers, unprovoked violence — she comes to believe she’s being targeted by a possessive force that breaks her understanding of reality. As the synopsis reads: “A force that can only be overcome by confronting the darkest parts of her own nature.”

The film is produced by Ric Roman Waugh, Brendon Boyea and Kenner Bolt for Cinemachine, the production company behind “Shelter,” “Greenland,” and “Greenland Migration,” alongside Frédéric Fiore, Ryan Wickers and Andrei Kamarowsky for Logical Pictures Group.

“Inhabit” marks the first major film project announcement starring Barrera since she was fired from “Scream 7” and left WME after posting pro-Palestinian posts on social media after Israel launched its deadly assaults on Gaza in late 2023.

In a recent Variety interview, she discussed the incident and being sidelined from the industry for over a year. She also said she was launching a production company.
