Mel Gibson to Star in Indie Crime Thriller "Boneyard"

Hollywood star Mel Gibson has signed on to star in the Indie crime thriller movie "Boneyard".

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Nora Zehetner, and Brian Van Holt are also starring in the project.

Colin Bates, who produced the Halle Berry thriller Kidnap, is producing the movie alongside Vincent McDaniel.

Inspired by true events, "Boneyard" tells of an FBI special agent (played by Gibson) who along with the Albuquerque police department, is hunting for a serial killer nicknamed The Bone Collector. However, the chief of police and one of his officers believe someone in their department may be the killer.

Jackson is portraying the chief while Van Holt plays the officer who is connected to the case through a missing niece.

Director Asif Akbar is helming the project from a script by Hank Byrd, Vincent E. McDaniel, Koji Steven Sakai, and Akbar.

Principal photography is underway in Las Vegas. Flix Financial is co-financing with The Film Post and One Dollar Studios. Randall J. Bacon, Daniel R. Carmona, and Dean Scheske serve as executive producers.

Gibson was last seen with Josh Duhamel in the indie crime caper flick "Bandit" and next appears in the "John Wick" spinoff series "The Continental".

The three-part limited series is set roughly 40 years before the events in the John Wick franchise and focuses on events surrounding a hotel for assassins in New York City

Set in 1970s New York City, the drama will follow the origins of The Continental New York’s manager Winston and loyal concierge Charon, who are portrayed by Colin Woodell and Ayomide Adegun.

The series also chronicles how a young Winston Scott managed to establish a safe haven for assassins.

It also features Gibson as Cormac and Katie McGrath as The Adjudicator. The cast also includes Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Jeremy Bobb, and Peter Greene.

The series, fully titled "The Continental: From the World of John Wick", took a long road to the screen, having first been put into development in 2018.

The limited series is written and executive produced by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons.

Albert Hughes exec producing and directing episodes one and three, and Charlotte Brandstrom helming episode two.

"The Continental" is set for a September release on Peacock.
