Apple TV+ has ordered a K-pop competition show with “Gangnam Style” singer Psy and Megan Thee Stallion set to star.

The series is titled “KPopped” and consists of eight episodes.

The official description reads, “In each episode, western icons reimagine one of their biggest hits, collaborating with top-tier K-pop idols to deliver spectacular battle performances, with a live Seoul-based audience picking the winner of the best new K-popped song.”

Megan Thee Stallion will executive produce in addition to performing her hit song “Savage” on the show.

Lionel Richie is also an executive producer on the show along with Moira Ross, Miky Lee, Greg Foster, alongside Harry H.K. Shin and Jake Hong, with producer Kiwoong Kim for CJ ENM Co., Ltd.

Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening and David Tibballs executive produce for Eureka Productions, a Fremantle company, alongside Bruce Eskowitz.

This will mark one of Apple’s few entries into the unscripted competition series space. The streaming arm of the tech giant previously aired the series “My Kind of Country” from co-creators Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves, which focused on country music. That series aired its only season in 2023. Apple also previously aired the docuseries “K-Pop Idols” in 2024.

Prior to the launch of Apple TV+, Apple Music had aired the series “Planet of the Apps” for one season. It was Apple’s first-ever original series. That show focused on people pitching their apps to a panel of judges, which included Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, and will.i.am.
