Meet Razan Jammal... Actress Who Captured Hearts of Egyptians in KIRA & EL GEN

With an impressive presence and a charming look, Emilie captured audiences’ hearts with her first scene in KIRA & EL GIN. The audience was on the edge of their seats, waiting to see the star in her following scenes.

Emily, the British Judge’s daughter, falls in love with the Egyptian patriotAhmed Kira (Karim Abdel Aziz). Emily’s  character was played by British-Lebanese actress Razane Jammal ; that’s why many were thrilled to know who Razane Jammal is.

She is a British-Lebanese actress who had an enormous success both at home and abroad. In the Arab world, Razane is best known for her portrayal of Maggie Maccaleb in Netflix's first Egyptian original series PARANORMAL (2020) directed by Amr Salama and Majid Al Ansari alongside Egyptian actors Ahmed Amin and Ayah Samaha.

Razane proved herself as a comedy actress when she played the role of Carla opposite Hend Sabry and Mohamed Mamdouh in the TV series EMBRATOREYET MEEN (WHO’s EMPIRE?). She lived an impossible love story with Taim Hassan in the Social and Romantic series ANA and starred in the second season of the period show SARAYA ABDEEN (ABDEN PALACE) alongside Youssra, Kosai Khauli and a wide array of stars. In SARAYA ABDEEN, she played the role of the French Emperor’s wife who suffers from her husband’s abusive behaviour. Additionally, she starred in AL SHAK (DOUBT) alongside Saudi actress Fatima Al Banawi.

Jammal has also made a name for herself in the international film industry with her perse roles in French, British and American projects, three of which have participated at the Cannes Film Festival: Cruel Summer by critically acclaimed and award-winning American rapper Kanye West in his directorial debut, UNE HISTOIRE DE FOU by the two-time Golden Bear nominated director Robert Guediguian, and CARLOS by Olivier Assayas, which received a Golden Globe in 2011. Her other projects include A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES alongside Oscar-nominated Irish actor Liam Neeson with Scott Franks who took home Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Netflix's popular series 'The Queen's Gambit'.

Razane Jammal was featured in the American TV series BERLINE STATION with Rhys Ifans, Richard Jenkins, and Michelle Forbes, Channel 4’s mini-series, CHIMERICA with actor Alessandro Nivola, and Eric and Quentin’s French comedy BAD BUZZ.

Most recently, Razane Jammal has boarded the series THE SANDMAN, an adaptation based on one of the best-selling DC comic novels of the same name, which is set to be screened on Netflix on August 5. Jammal's appearance in this TV series will make her the series’ only Arab delegate. Razane will join a high-wattage ensemble that includes the international award-winning novelist and screenwriter Neil Gaiman.

David S. Goyer, known for films like The Dark Knight, and Dark City, as well as the TV series Flashforward, and Alan Heinberg, known for Grace Anatomy, The Catch, and Wonder Woman, co-wrote the series.

Furthermore, Razane has just appeared in the Arabic adaptation of the popular Turkish TV series BINAR GECE, dubbed in English 1001 NIGHTS, alongwith Bassel Khaiat.

KIRA & EL GIN is Egypt's biggest budget film ever and has been released in Egyptian cinemas since last Thursday, June 30. Based on Ahmed Mourad’s bestselling novel 1919, the film is about a tale of love, heroism, and sacrifice, set in a significant period in Egypt’s history. Bringing a new take on the Egyptian revolution of 1919, KIRA & EL GIN follows a group of people coming from different walks of life who join hands to fight the tyranny of the British occupation in their own way. With an ironclad will, everyone fights tooth and nail for their mutual cause.
