The Muslim Council of Elders (MCE) marked World Book and Copyright Day by reaffirming the importance of books and knowledge in promoting dialogue, coexistence and peaceful societies.
In a statement issued through its publishing arm, Al Hokama Publishing, the organization described books as a vital gateway to knowledge and a bridge for understanding among peoples, emphasizing their role in expanding perspectives and strengthening the values of cooperation and mutual respect.
The council said that knowledge empowers individuals to think positively and equips communities to confront contemporary challenges, stressing that education remains a key pillar in building more aware and peaceful societies. The council also highlighted the responsibility of cultural and publishing institutions in addressing extremist ideologies and fostering balanced and informed dialogue.
According to the statement, Al Hokama Publishing has released more than 270 titles in over seven languages as part of its mission to disseminate knowledge and support the values of dialogue, coexistence and peace.
