The Muslim Council of Elders hosted an intellectual seminar at the Iraq International Book Fair titled “The Future of Muslim Unity: Between Shared Objectives and the Ethics of Differences,” bringing together scholars to discuss principles of cohesion within the Islamic world.
The session was delivered by Sheikh Dr. Hussein Ghazi, a member of the Supreme Council of the Iraq Fiqh Academy, and moderated by Dr. Mohammed Gamal of Al-Azhar. Dr. Ghazi stressed that unity in the Muslim Ummah must be founded on scholarly and ethical values rooted in good faith, open-mindedness, and sound reasoning. He noted that disagreement is a natural human condition that should be managed wisely, cautioning against intolerance and sectarian incitement that hinder social progress and weaken communal bonds.
He also praised the Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, for its continued efforts to promote dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect across the Islamic world.
