Mayor of the Italian city of Passignano sul Trasimeno, Sandro Pasquali, honored Egyptian renowned archaeologist Zahi Hawass and handed him the key to the city.
The grand ceremony was held in the presence of many intellectuals, senior writers, journalists, and media professionals, as well as kids who are fans of the Egyptologist.
Pasquali affirmed that Hawass made Italians love Egypt, bringing the Italian people closer to the Arab Republic.
The event was recorded by prominent correspondents. TV channel AVInews highlighted the Egyptologist’s capacity in spreading Egyptian culture in Rome.
Last June, Hawass was honored by the mayor of the Italian city of Montefalco, Luigi Titta. In a huge celebration, Titta handed him the shield of the key to the city along with its necklace.
Titta stressed that Hawass is the most well-known archaeologist in the world, underscoring his role in preserving antiquities and being an ambassador for world heritage.
