Mayor of the Italian city of Montefalco, Luigi Titta, honoured Egyptian renowned archaeologist Zahi Hawass and handed him the shield of the key to the city and its necklace.

The huge ceremony was held in the presence of many intellectuals, senior writers, journalists and media professionals.

Titta affirmed that Hawass is the most well-known archaeologist in the world, stressing that all the Italian people appreciate his role in preserving antiquities and being an ambassador for world heritage.

Hawass has recently participated in Gate Travel Expo 2022 due to its importance in promoting tourism and antiquities in Egypt.

“If the conference succeeds next September, it will have a great impact outside Egypt,” he said during his speech via “Zoom”, pointing pointed out that archaeologists provide free advertising in tourism through new discoveries.

“Egypt’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922, cannot be ignored, stressing that we must make use of the event because it was the greatest discovery that occurred in human history so far,” he added.
