What started as dropping someone off at their home quickly turned into a matter of life and death for Lebanese superstar Maya Diab.
In an interview with the "Al Kahera Wal Nas" satellite TV channel, the pop star recounted the incident occurred when she was driving at night in Lebanese capital Beirut.
The incident dates to 2005, where an international gang kidnapped her and held her gunpoint, put a single bullet in a gun, and turned the revolver cylinder.
"I was dropping someone off at their home when a group of people attacked my car and smashed the windows," she revisited.
Diab added that the attackers initially claimed to be from the State Security forces, before adding: "But it later became clear that it was a kidnapping carried out by a gang who held me captive for more than eight hours,".
During those hours, the kiddappers beat the pop star and held a gun to her face before stealing her car and money.
She described the harrowing incident as one of the most difficult experiences she has ever gone in her life, one that deeply traumatized her a condition she still suffers from today.
Diab added that she felt at the time that the attack might have been premeditated and that the members had been following her and monitoring her movements before carrying it out.
Born on November 12, 1980, the multi-talented pop star is a music artist, entertainer, film, TV personality, and fashion icon.
Diab joined a member of the famous Lebanese band “The Four Cats” in 2001.
She starred alongside The 4 Cats and prominent Egyptian actor Hany Ramzy in the 2007 film “Asad W Arbaa Kotat“.
The singer embarked on a solo career in 2010 and released her solo debut “Habibi” the following year.
