Paramount Pictures is not moving forward with Max Landis‘ "G.I. Joe" movie.

Landis was tapped by the studio back in February to work on a treatment for a feature adaptation of the Hasbro toy brand and one of their key IP franchises, G.I. Joe.

The project was set to be a comeback for the creative following sexual misconduct allegations from 2017 to 2019.

However, Paramount has now passed on Landis’ treatment for the film, though the studio is still in talks with other writers and awaiting scripts. One of them is from "The Righteous Gemstones" star Danny McBride, who was hired to work on a separate script for Joe.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Shooter) is the producer behind the Joe movies.

Landis, the son of Trading Places director John Landis, is a screenwriter who was accused of sexual misconduct during the height of the #MeToo movement and hasn’t worked since 2019.

At the time, numerous women came forward and spoke about Landis’ alleged behavior and accused him of sexual and emotional abuse. Following a 2019 expose by The Daily Beast, he was dropped by his representatives at CAA and Writ Large, and the projects he had in the works were scrapped. No charges were filed against Landis.

Three years ago, Landis addressed what he called serious mistakes in relationships and described himself as a toxic partner. “I get why certain people hate me,” he said in a YouTube video at the time.
