On Wednesday, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) received Mohamed Ould El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of his current official visit to Egypt.
They were received by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Museum Authority, who welcomed them and gave them an overview of the unique location of the museum, its history, and its cultural and societal role.
He also took them on a tour of the museum during which they learned about the reception building, the area overlooking Lake Ain al-Hayat, the open theater, and the ancient dye unique, dating back to the Fatimid period.
Ghoneim was also keen to present the Mauritanian president with the catalog of royal mummies, which are the icon of the museum's exhibits.
The guests also toured the different halls of the museum, during which Dr. Sayed Abul Fadl, the supervisor of the museum’s halls, accompanied them, where they saw the halls of the central display, the royal mummies, and the Egyptian textiles, and gave them a detailed explanation about the museum, the history of its establishment, and the unique archaeological holdings that tell the history of the ancient Egyptian civilization on Ages passed.
At the end of the tour, the Mauritanian president expressed his gratitude for the good reception during the visit.
El Ghazouani added he was very pleased with this visit and a close acquaintance with this great edifice that highlights Egypt's civilized status through the archaeological treasures displayed in it, and what it tells about the ancient history of Egypt throughout the ages.
