Massive Public Turnout on Grand Egyptian Museum’s Opening Day

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) witnessed a wide turnout and a large influx of visitors on its first day of opening to the public today. Visitors were keen to be among the first to explore this unique cultural landmark. According to the booking and ticket records, the number of visitors today reached about 18,000 visitors, including both Egyptians and foreigners, alongside intensive presence from local and international media outlets that came specifically to cover this global event.

​Visitors expressed their awe and amazement at the museum's distinctive architectural design, its vast spaces, and its unique halls, especially those dedicated to the Golden King and the outstanding display narrative for his artifacts, as well as the integrated visiting experience. This experience includes the museum halls and the accompanying cultural and entertainment facilities and services. They emphasized that the museum represents an unprecedented cultural addition to Egypt's global tourism and cultural standing.

​On this occasion, Mr. Sherif Fathy, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, described the day as a historic moment for Egypt and the world. He stated that the Grand Egyptian Museum is not just a museum that displays great antiquities and the ancient Egyptian civilization; rather, it is an integrated cultural experience that embodies the genius of the Egyptian people. He added that the huge turnout the museum is witnessing today reflects the passion of the Egyptian and global public to discover this unique landmark and serves as proof of Egypt's leading position on the global tourism map.

​For his part, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum, expressed his delight at the great success witnessed on the first day of receiving the public. He affirmed that this turnout reinforces the museum's mission to offer an exceptional museum experience where modern technology integrates with the greatest treasures of Egyptian civilization. He stressed that work is continuous to provide distinguished services and organize cultural and educational programs to ensure that the Grand Egyptian Museum becomes an essential destination for visitors from all over the world.
