On Sunday, the US Embassy in Cairo's Cultural Attaché Emma Marwood participated in the 45 Cairo International Film Festival press conference.
The partnership between the US Embassy in Cairo, and the CIFF has been for many years as both entities combine forces to provide Egyptian filmmakers with the required masterclasses and workshops through the US Embassy in Cairo's cooperation with Film Independent, and CIFF's Cairo Industry Days, and Cairo Film Connections.
Marwood told reporters: "We have a long partnership with CIFF. This year we provide two awards for two Egypt directors. They will have the chance to interact with major film experts in Hollywood for 10 days. This experience would help him to improve their projects."
She added that the cooperation between the US Embassy in Cairo and Film Independent will give 15 promising and rising filmmakers a chance to participate in the "Pitching Projects Workshop," in addition to the screening of "Adjunct" film by the American director with Iraqi origins Ron Najor.
Marwood asserted that CIFF is the biggest film festival in MENA, revealing that the US Embassy invested $ a million in various partnerships with different film festivals in Egypt.
She believes "Cinema is a strong channel for communication between cultures and people. In addition, it has a great positive impact on the economy and industry. "
Every year, the embassy has several programs with various festivals in Egypt to support and develop filmmakers like the Aswan International Women Film Festival, and Cairo International Film Festival.
