A series of character posters from Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated series "Secret Invasion" has been unveiled.

“Secret Invasion” feature Samuel L. Jackson returning as Fury, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross.

The Disney + series comprises six episodes and will feature crossovers from The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, Young Avengers, and Thunderbolts.

Cast also includes Kingsley Ben-Adir, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo, all of who will be making their MCU debuts.

The series also stars “Game of Thrones” alum Emilia Clarke and former “The Crown” star Olivia Colman.

Clarke plays G’iah, daughter of Skrull commander Talos. This isn’t the character’s first appearance in the MCU.

She is no fan of Fury or humans in general.

“These people promised a lot of stuff a long time ago, and not a lot has happened. So understandably, a certain amount of resentment has been built,” Clarke told Vanity Fair.

She added, “There’s a lot of emotions that live within her, and there’s a lot of confrontational aspects to her character that have come from circumstance. You understand why she has the feelings that she does,”.

In addition, living in the shadow of her father has hardened G’iah.

“There’s a kind of punk feeling that you get from this girl,” Clarke noted. “She’s a refugee kid who’s had Talos for a dad, you know what I mean? Maybe the fact that we didn’t know he had a kid up until this point tells you everything you need to know about their relationship.”

However, the daughter and father are not on the same side of the brewing Skrull war. G'iah joins the Skrull rebellion after growing tired of how her father and Fury have failed to find the Skrulls a new home.

G'iah's relationship with Talos is not in a great spot during the show after developing a rebellious spirit and watching her father fail.

The series also features Ben-Adir as Gravik, the leader of the Skrull rebellion. The Skrull faction works in the darkness to gain more power as part of their overall plan, which appears to be a takeover of Earth.

On the other hand, Colman plays a ruthless MI6 agent, a character that Jackson described as “somebody that you’ve never seen her play before. She’s cold-blooded and just relishes being that person.”

It also sees Everett K. Ross (Freeman) returning and is working in the shadows now. Viewers last saw him in custody during "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", but Ross is back for the spy series and becomes someone who works alongside Fury.

The series will feature Fury no longer wearing his iconic eyepatch in “Secret Invasion”.

Jackson previously explained the reason behind his character losing the eyewear.

“He just doesn’t wear the patch. The patch is part of who the strong Nick Fury was. It’s part of his vulnerability now. You can look at it and see he’s not this perfectly indestructible person. He doesn’t feel like that guy,” he told VF.

The series also sees Maria Hill more involved in the action than before. She has spent the last several years alone and not being able to get in contact with Fury. This has left her in a position to put out fires worldwide without superpowers or some of Fury's resources on her side.

"Secret Invasion" was first announced at Disney Investor in December 2021. The crossover event series showcases a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige previously teased a "darker" espionage thriller laced with tension and twists, with a Skrull plot whose impact could be felt across a wide span of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"War Machine" actor Don Cheadle recently spoke about how Secret Invasion will set up his upcoming Disney+ series "Armor Wars".

"[The MCU] It's bananas! And it's very expensive. And obviously, now that everyone can show up in everybody else's story," Cheadle said in an issue of Total Film.

"I mean, I'm in Secret Invasion, so I'm in Sam [Jackson]'s show. There's a part of that, that kicks off what happens in Armor Wars."

“Secret Invasion” debuts on June 21 on Disney+. Check out the newly released trailer below:
