Marvel has unveiled a special look at the highly-anticipated movie “Thunderbolts*,” opening in theaters on May 2, 2025.
The extended trailer for the upcoming movie debuted at the first-ever Brazil D23 fan event amid the attendee of David Harbour, who plays Red Guardian in the movie, presented the footage to the audience.
The superhero tentpole serves as the final installment of the MCU's Phase Five, following the July 2024 release of "Deadpool & Wolverine" and the February 2025 release of "Captain America: Brave New World".
Not much is known about the plot of the movie, but in the comics, the Thunderbolts are made up of villains, anti-heroes and reformed baddies — some of whom have already appeared within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It is set to bring together the worlds of “Ant-Man and the Wasp”, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, “Black Widow”, and the upcoming “Captain America” installment “New World Order”.
“Thunderbolts” features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Ola Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Lewis Pullman has also playing a mysterious character named Bob and Geraldine Viswanathan has also replaced Ayo Edebiri in a mystery role.
In the upcoming superhero pic, reformed Marvel villains are forced to team up to conduct covert operations on behalf of the U.S. government.
Based on Kurt Busiek’s comic series of the same name, “Thunderbolts*” is helmed by “Paper Towns” director Jake Schreier from a screenplay written by Eric Pearson (“Black Widow,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Transformers One,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”), “Beef” creator Lee Sung Jin and co-showrunner of “The Bear” Joanna Calo.
Kevin Feige produces the pic, with Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, and Jason Tamez serving as executive producers.
