Marvel Removes 2026 Title, Searchlight’s "A Real Pain" Delayed in Major Disney Schedule Shake-Up

Disney introduced a sizable update to its film release calendar on Friday that staked claim to 11 release dates in 2027 for untitled projects from the main studio as well as Marvel, Pixar, and Disney Animation.

Searchlight’s Sundance hit “A Real Pain” from writer-director-star Jesse Eisenberg will now open in limited release on November 1, moving from October 18.

The most changes made on the calendar pertained to announcements Marvel Studios made on July 27 at San Diego Comic-Con: “Avengers: Doomsday” replaces “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” on May 1, 2026, and the titles for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “Thunderbolts*” were updated.

Marvel also dropped an untitled film that had been scheduled for July 24, 2026, to match the division’s new mandate from Disney CEO Bob Iger to reduce its output to two to three feature films per year.

Along with “Doomsday,” Marvel also has untitled films slated for February 13, 2026, and November 6, 2026.

Moreover, Marvel’s “Blade” remains dated for November 7, 2025, despite the film, first announced at Comic-Con in 2019 with star Mahershala Ali, currently has no director.

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has said that the studio intends to keep developing the screenplay for the project until they feel it’s ready.

Disney now has three untitled films from its main studio slated to open in 2025, which could be setting the table for the company’s presentation of its upcoming projects at the D23 Expo on August 9.

Untitled Disney is now dated on 9/12/25

“Avengers: Doomsday” is the updated title of “AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY” dated on 5/1/26

Untitled Marvel previously dated on 7/24/26 is removed from schedule

Untitled Disney previously dated on 8/14/26 moves to 8/7/26

Untitled Disney previously dated on 9/18/26 moves to 9/11/26
