In celebration of World Tourism Day 2023, Marsa Alam City in the Red Sea Governorate, launched on Sunday, an artistic carnival, organized by Ostraca Arts Company.

The event is held by the Fine Arts Sector of the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Egyptian General Authority for the Promotion of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The celebrations feature 50 artists from 22 foreign countries and will continue until September 28th in the Marina Jannah Resort Aqua Park area.

In addition to the carnival festivities, Luxor will offer tourist tours for participating artists to visit its famous tourist and archaeological sites.

By sharing photos of their visits on social media, the participants will help promote tourism in Egypt and encourage their followers to experience the country's rich cultural and history, the Ministry of Tourism said in a statement.

According to UNWTO, the theme of this year is “Tourism and Green Investment”. It will be a call to action to the international community, governments, multilateral financial institutions, development partners, and private sector investors to unite around a new tourism investment strategy.

World Tourism Day has been held on 27 September each year since 1980. The date marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Statutes of the Organisation in 1970, paving the way for the establishment of the UNWTO five years later.

The day aims to increase awareness of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic values.
