Egyptian actress Mai Ezz Eldin paid tribute to the health care workers who cared for her during a recent hospital stay.

Ezz Eldin, 46, is now recovering at home following several weeks spent in a hospital after suffering from abdominal abscess two weeks before Ramadan.

Abdominal abscess is a collection of a pocket of pus and infected fluid that is surrounded by inflamed tissue inside the belly. Bacterial infections are the most common cause.

She required urgent surgical intervention to separate the intestinal adhesions and clean the abdomen and pelvis of the infection.

Ezz Eldin underwent hours-long surgery and transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) for close monitoring until her recovery.

She took to Instagram to pay tribute to the team of doctors who performed the complicated operation.

"A thousand thanks to the surgeon who performed my operation, @ADVANCEDSURGERYC LINIC, and his entire medical team, @DR.MOHAMED ABDEL AZEEM KHATTAB, Dr. ALI ASAL, and the anesthesiologist, Dr. RAMY MAGDY. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, especially since it wasn't an easy operation," she wrote. "I would also like to thank you, Dr. Hossam Ghoneim, for your care and follow-up on my case from the moment I entered the hospital."

Fans have flooded her social media with messages of love and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Born on January 19, 1980, Ezz Eldin made her acting debut in the 2001 romantic film "Rehlet Hob," starring late legend Gamil Ratib and famed singer Mohamed Fouad.

She made her drama debut in the 2002 series “Ayna Qalbi”, starring veteran actress Yousra, which shot her to stardom.

Ezz Eldin boosted her career with films "Kalam Mama" and the rom-com franchise “Omar & Salma” starring opposite Tamer Hosny.

Her film credits also include "Farah," "Khiana Mashroaa," and "Habibi Na'eman."

On the TV side, Ezz Eldin is also best known for her roles in "Ayna Qalby," "Al-Hakika w Al-Sarab," "Mahmoud Al-Masri," "Adam," "El Shak," "Dalaa Banat," "Halet Eshq," "Waad," "Rasa'el," “Kheit Harir,” and “Gezira Guam.”
