Marvel Studios has unveiled a new trailer for season 2 of the highly-anticipated series "Loki".

"Loki" is set in a Marvel Cinematic Universe-adjacent world and follows the events of 2019's "Avengers: Endgame".

It follows Loki (Tom Hiddleston) taken in by the Time Variance Authority (a.k.a. the TVA) with Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) taking on his role as a handler as Loki only can set right all of the timeline breakages he created by taking the Tesseract during the events of “Avengers: Endgame”.

The Loki Season 1 finale saw major revelations about the Sacred Timeline and its purpose. It was uncovered that Miss Minutes served as He Who Remains' messenger in the Citadel at the End of Time, indicating that she has close ties to the former leader of TVA.

It also saw He Who Remains killed by Loki's variant Sylvie, the multiverse broke free from the containment that was the Sacred Timeline, a carefully curated sequence of events ensuring that He Who Remains' variants couldn't exist (most notably Kang the Conqueror).

When Season 1 ended, Hiddleston was stuck in a reality he did not recognize after the multiverse was ravaged by the death of He Who Remains (played by Jonathan Majors).

The official synopsis for season two reads, “Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.”

The God of Mischief has effectively received a second redemption arc after his fate was changed in 2012 thanks to the time-traveling exploits seen in 2019's "Avengers: Endgame".

The new trailer showcased fresh looks at the titular God of Mischief, Sylvie, and a new look at a billboard of the series' surprising Thor villain.

In July 2022, photos revealed that Season 2 will showcase posters from an in-universe movie called Zaniac.

In Marvel Comics, Zaniac (a parasitic entity from the Dark Dimension) is actually a Thor villain. The character made his debut in Thor 319 in May 1982, an entity that possesses a human to act as Dormammu's agent.

After leaping from host to host, the parasitic entity eventually possessed an actor named Brad Wolf while working on a film titled "Zaniac!."

The movie is about a serial killer who targets women as his path for revenge against his mother who abused him when he was a child.

While being infected with the entity during filming, Brad was caught in a nuclear explosion from the Manhattan Project, leading to his transformation as Zaniac. After attacking different women, Thor eventually stopped the villain.

The trailer also unveiled another look at Rafael Casa's Brad Wolfe, the actor who was possessed by the entity.

“Loki” Season 2 features Owen Wilson reprising the role of Mobius M. Mobius, though his character arc in Season 2 takes a drastic turn given the loss of some of his memory in the Season 1 finale. Other returning actors include Eugene Cordero, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Tara Strong, Rafael Casal, and more.

It also features Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan making his MCU debut as Ouroboros (OB), a TVA employee.

“Loki” Season 2 will include six episodes penned by returning writer Eric Martin. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are each confirmed to direct an episode of the series, with Michael Waldron remaining attached to the show as its creator. Hiddleston, Waldron, Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, and Kevin Feige also return as executive producers for the second season.

"Loki" Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 6. New episodes will air weekly.
