“Lioness” has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+.

Previously titled “Special Ops: Lioness,” the series debuted its first season at the streamer in July 2023.

It hails from Taylor Sheridan, who produced the series under his expansive overall deal with Paramount.

The series stars Zoe Saldana, Laysla De Oliveira, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, and Morgan Freeman. Freeman will be a series regular in the second season.

Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, and Hannah Love Lanier also star.

An actual U.S. Military program inspires the series that follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) “while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror,” per the official logline.

Per Paramount, “Lioness” pulled in nearly 6 million viewers in its first week across Paramount+ and the linear preview that aired on Paramount Network.

Taylor Sheridan serves as an executive producer on the show along with Saldaña, Kidman, and Wagner. David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox also executive produce.

The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios and is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
