Lindsay Lohan has landed her first major TV role in “Count My Lies,” a drama in development at Hulu based on the novel of the same name. She will play wealthy mother Violet.
Published by Simon & Schuster in March of this year, “Count My Lies” is the debut novel from Sophie Stava, who serves as a producer on the Hulu adaptation.
The project is being written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, best known for their work on NBC’s “This Is Us.”
The official logline for the series reads, “When compulsive liar Sloane Caraway fibs her way into a nanny position for the gorgeous and charismatic Violet and Jay Lockhart, it seems she’s finally landed her dream job. But little does Sloane know, she’s just entered a household brimming with secrets that are about to explode — with potentially catastrophic consequences for all.”
“Count My Lies” adds to a string of recent projects for Lohan, who returned to acting after a decade-long hiatus with the Netflix film “Falling for Christmas” in 2022.
In 2024, she starred in two more rom-coms for the streamer, “Irish Wish” and “Our Little Secret,” while also making a cameo in the “Mean Girls” movie musical after starring in the original film in 2004. Up next, Lohan will appear in “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to 2003’s “Freaky Friday,” one of her best-known roles.
She executive produces alongside Aptaker, Berger and Scott Morgan of The Walk-Up Company. 20th Television, part of Disney TV Studios, is the studio.
Aptaker and Berger served as co-showrunners of “This Is Us” alongside creator Dan Fogelman. In 2019, they founded production banner The Walk-Up Company and entered an overall deal at 20th Television, which serves as the studio on “Count My Lies.”
They previously developed “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff “How I Met Your Father” and “Love, Simon” spinoff “Love, Victor” for Hulu. Scott Morgan also executive produces “Count My Lies” via The Walk-Up Company.
