The Libyan House of Representatives (LHOR) published a statement related to the recent developments in Chad which neighbors Libya in the south.

The LHOR urges the government, the armed forces to move to defend the southern borders of the country.

The statement includes that the LHOR follows up the accelerating events in Chad which may reflect on destabilizing security or displacement of the local population on either side of the borderline.

The Libyan legislative council calls for taking all suitable urgent decisive measurements to secure the country and protecting its southern borders and keeping its national sovereignty.

The council told the military commission (known as 5+5) to accelerate the process of unifying the military establishment to ensure the security and stability of Libya.

It is worth noting that the Chadian Army announced yesterday, Tuesday, the killing of President Idris Debi (who ruled Chad for more than 30 years) on the frontline with the northern rebels.

The rebel Front of Change and Concord, which killed Debi, announced rejecting the transitional period in the country led by Debi's son.

The group said in a statement that "Chad is not a kingdom and power cannot be inherited within the family in our country."

The Front announced its intention to advance towards the Chadian capital, N'Djamena.

The late Chadian President Idris Deby succumbed to wounds sustained in a clash with the rebels, days after his victory over a sixth consecutive presidential election.

He was one of the oldest rulers in Africa.

He came to power by a military putsch that expelled his predecessor.

In the wake of the killing of the president, the country's military announced a transitional period under the leadership of the son of the late President Muhammad Idris Debi as temporary president.

The Chadian army announced in a statement, yesterday, Tuesday, the imposition of a curfew and the closure of the country's land borders after the killing of President Idris Debi.
