American actress-singer Leighton Meester will collaborate with her husband Adam Brody in "The River Wild"— a reimagining of Universal's 1994 adventure movie of the same name.

The project will also feature their "Single Parents" co-star Taran Killam.

Principal photography is currently in production in Hungary.

The thriller followed a family forced to combat a pair of violent criminals in the wilderness while on a whitewater rafting trip.

It was scripted by Denis O’Neill and directed by Curtis Hanson.

The movie starred Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, David Strathairn, John C. Reilly, Benjamin Bratt, and Joseph Mazzello.

It grossed over $94M worldwide and earned both Streep and Bacon Golden Globe nominations for their performances.

The reboot is helmed by director Ben Ketai from a script he co-wrote alongside Mike Nguyen Le.

It follows a brother (Killam) and sister (Meester) who love but distrust each other, as they embark on a white-water rafting trip with a small group, including their childhood friend (Brody), who turns out to be more dangerous than he appears.

The reboot, produced by Ogden Gavanski, will debut on non-theatrical platforms worldwide in 2023 from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production arm of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.
