Legendary Actor Ahmed Bedair Turns 78

Acclaimed Egypt's comedy actor Ahmed Bedair is celebrating his 78th birthday on Tuesday.

The legendary comedian got his start in the world of comedy in 1970 and has not looked back since. Throughout his almost 40 years in showbiz, Bedair has brought to life so many iconic characters.

Born in 1947 in Qena, Bedair is known for appearing in over 200 films and acting in over 50 series.

After studying Arts, the young ambitious man turned to acting in the mid-1970s with small roles in productions such as ‘Taaer Al-Leil Al-Hazeen' (The sad night bird) and 'Nahr Al-Malh' (Salt River)

Bedair is a talented actor who has appeared in many hit films, television series and plays. He is well known for some of his seminal work, such as ( A Paper Hero), 'Sokoot Hansawar' (Silence…We’re Rolling), 'Hob Fawq El-Sahab' (Love on the Clouds), and the play (Raya and Sakina).

He made his breakthrough in the "Rayya and Skina" play, starring Shadia and Abdel Monem Madbouli.

His magnificent performance in "The Hell" movie also won much praise from Egyptian fans and critics alike.

The actor has received many awards from Ismailia Film Festival, Cairo Arab Media Festival, Cairo International Film Festival, and Dubai International Film Festival during his outstanding career.
