Netflix has released the final trailer for Julia Robert and Ethan Hawke's thriller movie “Leave the World Behind”.
It also stars Kevin Bacon, Mahershala Ali, Myha’la Herrold, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Farrah Mackenzie, and Charlie Evans.
The official synopsis reads, "A family’s (Roberts and Hawke) vacation is upended when two strangers (Mahershala Ali and Myha’la) arrive at night, seeking refuge from a cyberattack that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world,".
It also explores how the closest bonds are reshaped — and unexpected new ones are forged — in moments of crisis.
“Leave the World Behind” is the first fictional movie executive produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s banner Higher Ground Productions, having previously focused on children’s programs, documentaries, and historical dramas.
Director Sam Esmail, creator of “Mr. Robot,” adapted the screenplay from Rumaan Alam’s 2020 novel. The novel was a finalist for the 2020 National Book Awards. It has been named A Best Book of the Year by The Washington Post, NPR, Time, Esquire and Elle among others.
“Leave the World Behind” opens on November 22 before debuting on Netflix on December 8.
