Veteran Egyptian actress Laila Elwy's latest comedy film "Al Mustariha" has finally landed a release date: December 18.
The cast also stars Amr Abdel Guelil, Noor Kadry, Amr Wahba, Moustafa Ghareeb, Mohamed Radwan, Mahmoud Ellithy, Bayoumi Fouad, and more.
Amro Salah directs the film from a script by Mohammed Abdul Qawi, Ahmad Anwr, Osama Hossam El Din, and Ahmed Saad Wali.
Moreover, Elwy is set to return for "Qalby Yehabk Ya Donia", the follow-up to the 1996 film "Ya Donia Ya Gharamy," starring Elham Shahin and Hala Sedki.
The pic also starred Hesham Selim, Magda El Khatib, Hussien El Emam, and more. It won many international awards and hailed from scriptwriter Mohamed Helmy Hilal and filmmaker Magdy Ahmed Ali. "Studio 13" by Raafat El-Mehi was the studio behind the film.
"Ya Donia Ya Gharamy" is centered around Batta, Sakina and Nawal, three labor women from the same neighborhood who are past the normal age of marriage despite their beauty and sense of humor.
The film chronicles their continuous struggle with difficult social conditions and failed love stories, dreams of marriage as they move from one failure to another, and cling to loving life until the last breath.
Despite the simplicity of their ambitions and dreams, none of them could achieve their simple dream of love, marriage, and a normal life with a good man.
Elwy made her last onscreen appearance in the star-studded film "Al Shanab" (The Shanabs).
The cast also includes Lebleba, Sawsan Badr, Mahmoud El Bezzawy, Heidy Karam, Asmaa Galal, Khaled Sarhan, and more.
Ayten Amin directed from a script she co-wrote with Ahmed Raouf and Islam Hossam.
"Al Shanab" revolves around the “Al Shanab” sisters, who reconcile their differences following the loss of a family member.
The pic is Amin's third feature film, after"Souad" (2020) and "Villa 69" (2013).
The star-studded comedy world premiered at the 7th El Gouna Film Festival. It has been selected to compete in the festival's feature-length narrative films category.
