Lady Gaga has joined "Wednesday" season 2 with Jenna Ortega at Netflix.
While no details have been disclosed about Gaga’s role is being kept under wraps, but sources say it will be a cameo appearance during the megahit Netflix show’s second season, which is currently filming in Ireland.
Sources say that the production team had tried to get Gaga on the show for a larger role in Season 2, but that ultimately did not work out.
This will mark the latest acting role for Gaga, who is best known for her groundbreaking music career. Most recently, she starred in “Joker: Folie à Deux” opposite Joaquin Phoenix. Previously, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for starring alongside Bradley Cooper in “A Star Is Born.”
She has also been nominated three times for best original song, including one for “A Star Is Born,” winning that award for her work on the song “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick.” Gaga has also starred in films such as “House of Gucci” and multiple seasons of “American Horror Story.”
“Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega had previously told Variety that “I’m sure Netflix would love” Gaga to appear in the new season of the series after a dance scene featured in “Wednesday” Episode 4 exploded on TikTok once it got remixed to Gaga’s “Bloody Mary.”
Ortega will once again star as the beloved “Addams Family” character Wednesday Addams in Season 2, while Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo have all been promoted to series regulars.
Zeta-Jones plays Morticia, while Guzmán plays Gomez and Ordonez plays Pugsley. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer will also be returning. Other new series regulars include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.
Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment, Fred Armisen, and Jamie McShane will appear in a guest role.
“Wednesday” originally debuted in November 2022 and instantly became a massive hit for Netflix. It ranks as the most-watched English language show the streamer has ever released and was nominated for 12 Emmys, winning four.
Work on Season 2 was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes that shutdown much of Hollywood in 2023. In November 2023 it was confirmed that shooting on Season 2 would begin in late April 2024 in Ireland. That’s a change from Season 1, which was shot in Romania.
Netflix has slated "Wednesday" season 2 for streaming in 2025.
