A team of the archaeological survey mission operating in the desert plateau, west of Abydos, revealed a group of holes at a high level from the mountain front.

They date back to the Ptolemaic era showing that it has great religious significance.

Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that these holes are located in the sacred valley area south of the royal cemetery at Umm al-Qa’ab, and after careful examination it was found that these entrances lead to rooms which are not more than 1.20 meters high; it vary between one and two rooms or three and another group consisting of five rooms connected together through narrow slits cut across the rock walls separating them.
